WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
People of all ages and fitness levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. The training sessions will be full of both foundational technique and intensity, so that both the most and least experienced participants can benefit. We aim to give people of all levels the experience of training like a Thai-style camp.
DO I NEED ANY EXPERIENCE TO JOIN?
We welcome everyone from beginners to fighters—our trainers are comfortable with teaching classes with individuals of all levels.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RETREAT?
The retreat includes training, 6 nights of accommodations, breakfast, lunch, transport from the airport on February 27, one group excursion (optional), and a welcome party at Shirley Heights (food & drinks not included). Find more details on the "About the Camp" page.
WILL THERE BE ANY OTHER GROUP ACTIVITIES?
Group activities outside of training will include the Welcome BBQ at Shirley Heights on Sunday night and one optional group excursion. We'll provide recommendations for other activities to do in your free time, such as hiking, horseback riding, sailing, etc. We'll also share our restaurant, bar, and beach recommendations!
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
A non-refundable deposit of $350 USD is required to hold your spot. This deposit is non-refundable, except with proof of a positive COVID-19 test within one week of departure. The remainder of your payment, other than the deposit, is refundable until February 1.

If COVID-19 restrictions change such that the trip is no longer possible, we will refund 100% of payments.
HOW MUCH TRAINING TIME IS THERE?
We will have on average 3 hours per day, split between morning and afternoon sessions. Sessions are optional—you can come to as many or as little as you'd like. So whether you want to sleep in and rest up or take the day to hit the beach, there's no pressure to attend every session (keep in mind pricing will remain the same).
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED? WHAT ELSE SHOULD I BRING?
For training, please bring boxing gloves (14oz or 16oz recommended), a minimum of two pairs of hand wraps, and running sneakers. (If you need an excuse to buy new gear, this is it.) Shin guards and a mouth guard are recommended, but not required. If you have them, please bring them! Otherwise, please bring plenty of SPF and bug spray, your bathing suit, and clothing to train in. WHAT IS THE CLIMATE LIKE? WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR TRAINING?
On average the weather in February/March is high 86°/low 75°, with the lowest amount of rain all year. For training you can wear a sports bra, tank top, or t-shirt, Muay Thai shorts, sport shorts, or leggings/workout pants.
HOW DO I GET THERE?
Fly into St. John's International Airport (code ANU). Make sure you do not book a flight into Antigua, Guatemala! We will provide pickup from the airport.
WHAT IF I WANT TO EXTEND MY TRIP?
We're happy to connect you with The Ocean Inn and provide a discounted rate if you'd like to spend some extra time in Antigua, either before or after the retreat.
WHAT IF MY FRIEND/PARTNER WANTS TO COME AND NOT TRAIN?
No problem! Send us an email or put it into your RSVP form and we can work something out with you.
CAN I COME ALONE?
Of course! If you opt for a shared room, we can pair you with a roommate, and we will do our best to pair according to interests and requests. If you’d prefer to stay solo, we have single rooms available.
WHAT ARE THE VISA REQUIREMENTS? DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE?
All visitors to Antigua and Barbuda must have proof of an onward or return ticket. Citizens of United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Commonwealth countries are exempt from needing a Visa. For more information on whether your country requires a visa to enter, you can find that here and apply for a visa ($100) here. Both travel insurance and medical insurance are recommended.
WHERE IS THE CLOSEST HOSPITAL OR MEDICAL FACILITY?
There is a large modern hospital in St. John’s with all the latest medical equipment plus large and small private medical clinics. English Harbour has both a doctor’s office and an emergency medical center for the treatment of minor injuries.
WHAT IS THE CURRENCY?
The currency in Antigua is East Caribbean Dollars (EC or XCD), but merchants in Antigua also accept USD, you will just receive your change in EC. There's no need to exchange currency, just come with some USD on hand. Many places accept credit, but there will be some smaller vendors that don't.
HOW CAN I GET AROUND THE ISLAND?
The Ocean Inn is a walkable distance from English Harbour's bars, restaurants, markets, beaches, hikes, and more. When leaving English Harbour, there are buses and taxis available to take you around—we can assist with this!
DO I NEED TO GET AN OUTLET ADAPTER?
You do not need a power plug adapter in Antigua and Barbuda if you are from the US.
IS THERE A TIME DIFFERENCE?
From November 7 until March 13, Antigua is one hour ahead of EST.
